SAFFE-Furniture-Conference-Table-Room-Design

Here at SAFFE we know that conference rooms are an important gathering space to discuss ideas and problem solve. They are also a space where it can be important to make a great first impression if it’s a space where you plan on interviewing new employees or clients.

So, when planning your conference room design it’s important to take a variety of things into consideration. Sound overwhelming? No problem – we’re here to help. Keep reading to learn six things to consider when designing your conference room.

  1. Table Size

The first thing to consider is the size of the space you are working with. Having a floorplan of your space, or measurements is a good place to start. Next think about how many people you need to accommodate in the room. Those two factors will help you to determine the best table size for your space.

Please note a good reference for the size of table that is needed is using 1’ for every person that will be seated at the table. Six people would need a 6’ table to have an adequate amount of space. Twelve people ideally would need a 12’ table. Size up for odd numbers.

If you are unsure what size table you need the furniture manufacturer you choose should be able to help you out. At SAFFE we offer Plan-It SAFFE Sessions. A live design and interactive tool where you can see your space and we can show you what table size will work the best.

  1. Table Shape

The next consideration is what table shape you would like. Our most popular table shape at SAFFE Furniture is what we call a boat shaped design. A boat shape design is widest in the middle and features tapered ends. Our next most popular shape is what we call Elegant Rectangle – a traditional rectangle shape with softly rounded corners.  These shapes help accommodate people comfortably at the conference table and maximize the useable space efficiently.

  1. Table Accessories

Also think how you plan to use the room to determine what accessories you need. How will you use the room – for casual meetings – or will you need to be set up for laptops, tablets, and other devices that require power? It is easy to add a power unit to a conference table. Think about how many devices and what type of connections you need to determine your power requirements. And don’t forget about wire management! Be sure to ask if your conference tables includes wire management if you include power. Wire management will help to hide those dangling cords and cables. Helping you create a clean and sophisticated look.

  1. Table Material

The most popular conference tabletop material for our customers is HPL (high-pressure laminate) due to the durability, cost, and wide array of color options. Wood veneer is another tabletop option. Veneer is thin slices of real wood applied to a supportive material. This provides a real wood appearance with a variety in the grain. For higher end conference room solutions, a solid real wood top with either a standard or live edge is a nice option.

  1. Storage Options

The most popular storage room storage solution is a credenza. A credenza is a cabinet with drawers and doors used for storage. Bookshelves are also another popular storage solution for conference spaces.

  1. Seating

When considering chairs for conference rooms, most chair manufacturers offer a conference style chair. These are different from typical office chairs in a few ways. First, they normally offer a fixed loop style arm. Second, they have less ergonomic adjustments than a traditional office chair because they are sat in for less period of time. Third, many conference room chairs are offered in vinyl or leather instead of standard fabric.
